Echoes of Earth, renowned as India’s premier eco-conscious festival, recently concluded its inaugural Goa edition, setting a new standard for large-scale events with its environmentally responsible approach to decor.In a celebration of Goa’s abundant natural beauty and the Western Ghats’ biodiversity, Echoes of Earth showcased stunning stage designs and art installations meticulously crafted from recycled materials. Spearheaded by talented artists Siddhartha Kararwal and Muzamil Shairff, each creation captured the essence of Goa’s diverse ecosystem.Kararwal’s masterpieces, ‘The Kraken’ and ‘The Big Beak,’ honored marine and avian wonders with structural bases ingeniously fashioned from reused metal, adorned with recyclable fabric exteriors. Meanwhile, Shairff’s ‘The Ghost’ stage paid tribute to coastal creatures, meticulously pieced together from salvaged metal sheets sourced from local junkyards.Festival director Roshan Netalkar emphasized Echoes of Earth’s commitment to circular design, ensuring that all materials find new life in future editions of the event. The festival also featured over 20 captivating art installations spotlighting Goa’s fauna, expertly crafted from upcycled and recycled materials.Artist Akshay Manjrekar, creator of the striking Tailless Whip Scorpion installation, hailed the collaboration with Echoes of Earth as a testament to shared values in sustainable design. Similarly, Mohit Bhagat, known as AltNative, drew inspiration from Goa’s state animal, the Indian Gaur, fashioning it from repurposed automobile parts and plastic bottles.Fosite, the multidisciplinary studio behind the mesmerizing Flying Draco Lizard installation, praised Echoes of Earth for fostering innovation through its eco-friendly ethos. Utilizing woven palm leaves and recycled metal pipes, Fosite achieved a stunning fusion of artistry and sustainability.Echoes of Earth’s Goa edition not only captivated audiences with its vibrant music and cultural offerings but also served as a beacon of inspiration for event organizers worldwide, proving that luxury and sustainability can harmoniously coexist on the grandest of stages.
